History
In the verdant heart of the Serra do Marão mountains, Quinta da Levada was born — a project born of passion, where agricultural tradition meets the art of winemaking. Founded by José Mendes, the Quinta was from the beginning much more than a farm: it was a return to roots, a tribute to the land of Aboadela and to the authenticity of Vinho Verde.
The granitic soil, the region's microclimate, and the dedication to the Azal grape variety have given rise to unique, fresh, and award-winning wines that reflect the character of the surrounding landscape. With approximately 8 hectares of vineyards, the focus is essentially on quality, respect for nature, and a faithful expression of the terroir.
The Present
Ao longo dos anos, os seus vinhos têm sido reconhecidos dentro e fora de Portugal, conquistando medalhas de ouro e distinções em concursos internacionais.
A atual produção está assente em três tipologias diferentes: Quinta da Levada Azal, Quinta da Levada Origens e mais recentemente, Espumante Quinta da Levada.

Awards
The dedication and care with which we produce our Vinho Verde have been recognized over the years by international experts and juries. Since 2010, Quinta da Levada Azal has won numerous awards that attest to its freshness, authenticity, and exceptional quality.
In 2010, it was also awarded the prestigious Best Of, marking Quinta da Levada's affirmation as a benchmark producer in the region.
From then on, several Verde Ouro Awards followed — the highest distinction awarded by the Vinho Verde Wine Region Viticulture Commission — in the years 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2021.
Internationally, it won Silver Medals at the demanding Brussels World Competition in 2016 and 2017, placing it among the biggest names in the global wine scene.
These recognitions reinforce our commitment to a genuine wine that respects the land and elevates the best that the Marão region has to offer.
